28 YEARBOOK 16/17 www.TENNISONTARIO.com DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARDS RICHARD DEYHOLDS Charlottetown Tennis Club Scarborough Tennis Federation Richard has been a member of the Charlottetown Tennis Club since 1986. He has held numerous positions of responsibility at the club including Junior Development Director, Director of Junior House League, Court Maintenance Director, Vice- President, President and Past President for close to 30 years prior his retirement in 2015. He has been conscientious and persistent in dealing with City Officials, Parks and Recreation staff and contractors. Richard was particularly dedicated to the development of Junior Tennis at the club and helped organize junior leagues and practices. He has been selfless in volunteering his time to Junior Development and to the Charlottetown Tennis Club. Richard is a most deserving candidate. DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARDS TADY SACZKOWSKI Welland Tennis Club South West Region Tady has served as a Director of the Welland Tennis Club since 2008. He was very involved in the resurfacing of the club's courts, improving the lighting and refurbishing the clubhouse. Tady worked with the St. Catharines Parks and Recreation Department to establish a tennis program for youngsters on city park courts. Tady undertook all certification requirements, including OTA Instructor Training. He taught the program over two summers and continues to advocate for the improvement of public tennis facilities in St. Catharines. Tady has supported the Niagara District 55+ Championships since its inception in 2012 and was instrumental in having the tournament hosted by the Welland Tennis Club. He has written a History of Niagara Peninsula Tennis and his article on the centennial of the Welland Tennis club was featured in Ontario Tennis. Tady is an outstanding volunteer at the club and community levels and his commitment to tennis, particularly for young players in the Niagara Peninsula, is deserving of this award.
